This is a great recipe. I use it lots if people are coming for supper after work & I want to serve fresh bread (you've had it lots of times with me Ali!) I started making it as it's an Irish recipe that mum & her family in Ireland always made. Yoghurt is also good instead of milk, and adding some herbs (eg if you're eating with cheese rather than jam!) is nice too. Making a cross in the top is meant to keep the Devil out!
